This award-winning video received wide international attention with the introduction of new music video stations such as MTV. As she playfully describes symbols of success, Allen’s work is designed in comic book style, as a moving collage of two- and three-dimensional digital animation, live-action and text graphics. A key element is her implementation of an optical illusion through a chorus of digital rotating masks.
With the dismissal of this new form of experimental film, and anything “digital”, by the traditional artworld at that time, Allen was drawn to TV as a way to exhibit and distribute her moving artworks.
